Established in October 1997, Overseas Students Pioneer Park (“Pioneer Park”) is the first technological enterprise incubator in Beijing serving returned overseas students who intend to start up their businesses in China, and also an important part of incubator innovation system in Beijing. With a clear goal to creating favorable incubation environment for returned overseas students who found their start-up enterprises in China and attracting talented returned students to set up new high-tech companies, Pioneer Park endeavors to enhance the effective integration of advanced foreign technologies, managerial expertise and domestic resources, foster new high-tech companies with international competitiveness and versatile entrepreneurs and contribute to development of new high-tech industry in Beijing.

Since its foundation, Pioneer Park has committed to building itself into a school, which aims at nurturing a host of star enterprises and outstanding entrepreneurs by targeting a special group of people. Through years of development, Pioneer Park has been transformed into a complete incubation system, encompassing Haidian Overseas Students Pioneer Park, Haidian Overseas Students Development Park, Zhongguancun Biological Medicine Park and Education Base for Children of Returned Overseas Students. Incubatees can receive all-encompassing services and support, including investment and financing, management consultation and training, technical consultation, marketing and project presentations.

The Pioneer Park is highly valued by governments at all levels and recognized by all sectors of the society for the great achievement it has made. In Oct. 1998, the Business Incubator was accredited as one of the first national-level business incubators; In Jan. 2000, the Pioneer Park was listed by Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission as Municipal New Hi-tech Industrial Incubator; In Oct. 2000, it was selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Education as the pilot park for development of national pioneer parks for overseas students; In Sept. 2001, the park was credited as the National Advanced Incubator for New High-tech Zone by the Ministry of Science and Technology; In Aug. 2004, it was selected as the Excellent National New Hi-tech Business Incubator for the Year 2003. Over the years, the party and state leaders as well as municipal leaders made inspections to and gave their instructions on the Park, which greatly inspired the Park. In addition, leaders and high-rank officials from foreign countries, overseas technical inspection group as well as venture capital companies visited the Park, which has become Beijing’s window open to the outside world. The support and concern we have received is our precious asset and will encourage us to forge forever ahead. Amidst the rocketing growth of Chinese economy and post China’s WTO accession, we will embrace a great emergence of start-ups founded by returned overseas students.
